Rosalie, I think he means that at his age he's too old to have people look at him that way. I do respect the sanctity of marriage. I do find you guys are very attractive. To me older men are very attractive and I ended up being a little too cheeky. :)
I wasn't really intending to make you or Roland feel uncomfortable Curt. I guess I could have expressed myself a little bit better but at the same time you guys are a great band. I guess I let myself get carried away.
Oh btw I'm not here to get laid either because I'm not that kind of girl. I only act that way on the internet. There's that and the fact that I would never cross that line if someone was to meet me in person. (If that makes any sense?) :) Curt and Roland are attractive to me but at the same time I still have to respect that they are already spoken for.

oooh P. S... You may know this already, AZ has a dry heat. That means you may not sweat. The problem with that is, by the time you are sweating you are on your way to heat exhaustion. It sneaks up on you and are more likely to pass out. Water and or like poweraid drinks are good. I prefer water but I dilute my poweraide 1/2 water & 1/2 poweraide sometimes to cut down the sugar and salt. As noted you might alredy know the info with you being a runner and all.
Thank You, Papa Smith :-) for your site and sharing photos from the road. Your music is great. Love TFF!!! "I'm glad you are not here to ..."
You will be here in Arizona soon. It's hot here, if you remember. DRINK PLENTY OF WATER... you could get drained quickly. I live in Tucson, AZ. I think Phoenix has been around the low to mid 100's. Remind your bandmates to drink water too. Chat at you soon.

:) Why, thank you for the clarification Curt but too OLD would be my grandmother who is turning 100 years old later this year (bless her heart) or would that be considered REALLY, REALLY OLD? Goodluck to all of you on your scheduled shows/concerts!
Rosalie
I know it's hard to be away from your family and especially your children. It would have been nice to see you guys up north. There are a lot of places in which you can play.
I never got to see you guys while you were filming your concert in Toronto that was included in Scenes From The Big Chair. If I had known that you guys were going to be a Massey Hall for two nights, believe me, I would have been whining and screaming at my mother to take me.
I'm still working on trying to get a spot at the show in Phoenix so I remain "cautiously optimistic" that I'll be able to at least get there.

Hi Curt and all,
I'm generally only a lurker here and rarely post anything. But I just wanted to say a few words before I'm off to Seattle.
I'm getting to see Curt & Roland for the first time this Friday. I've never been to one of their concerts in Wisconsin or thereabouts. Long story-short, various things made it not happen for me. Post-1990, I never thought I would get to see TFF; these "friends" whose music lifted and sustained me during the darkest days of my life. I had missed my chance.
OK, so now I'm 39, I have a young child and I'm pretty much broke. But, I'm so, so thankful to Curt & Roland for making music together again and for getting together once in awhile to perform. Not only do I get to enjoy more new (and great) music from them but I get the second chance to see them perform--something I've wanted to do since the mid-80s. No, it's not easy for me to go to the concert but, at least there is a concert to go to! I'm so grateful for that.
So, I just want to say THANK YOU to Curt, Roland, the rest of the band and everyone who is helping to make this tour happen. I know that any time could be the last time you perform together. I'm just glad I don't have to miss it again. It may sound corny but, I feel like I've been given a gift...and it really means so much to me.
I hope everyone -- the band, the fans, the crew, etc.-- enjoys the tour.
All the best.
Curt, thanks so much for your response and a rapid one at that, but may I say most emphatically (yet respectfully) "Dammit?!!!" It gets so old watching you and Roland perform on youtube...I have most assuredly been one of the top 10 contributors to the "numbers of viewings." If logistically it would have worked for me to get out west - believe me I would, but family and obligations get in the way...which really sucks sometimes. Well, I now surrender and gracefully lay down my sword at your feet ( as I have tried my best ) and will try very hard to stifle my sarcastic jealousy in the weeks to come as I read the posts from everyone who will be attending one of your concerts...wish me luck.
PS. the east coast is lovely in the Fall...and Virginia is for Lovers :) J.K.
There are no plans for more touring at this point I'm afraid. The only reason I didn't respond is that I get asked so many times and I don't really want to respond every time. Rest assured that if and when there are more touring plans I will announce them here first.

Yes I did observe that he's unamused with what was said. I won't object if he removes the offensive stuff. He has the absolute right to do what he feels is appropriate.

Hey Curt, I know you respond and interject when things get trashy...and I've tried to get your attention civilly on this matter in the past to no avail. Therefore, if I reduce myself to talking trashy too will you make a comment on any plans, ever, to come to the other side of the US with Roland and do a concert or two. I'm desperate here to get your attention on this. Most of us "virtual groupies" were listening to you in high school and college and right about now that puts us with about 3 kids ( or is it 2.5 kids ), a couple dogs, soccer practices, basketball practices, piano lessons, girl scouts blah blah blah... oh, and work . Point being - most of us middle agers can't pack it up and travel $$$ across country for a few days of pure unadulterated TFF fun ( as much as I have dreamt it. ) Any response? At least a spark of possibility?
By the way Celeste, in his always and ever so diplomatic and humble way, it seems as if Mr. Smith is not amused. Just a blatant observation.
I know you weren't directing that to me in particular envertigo. I do like to have fun as much as the next person does and get my "mojo" running if you will. But it's obvious that I still need to mature a little bit and I need to learn when to stop being so mouthy. Curt is free to remove anything that I said that, he feels, was inappropriate. It wouldn't offend me in the least.
Something that I said was offensive to some of you, and yes, I do tend to get a little bit carried away with my crude sense of humour; which, I feel, people just don't get sometimes.
It's just the excitement of seeing GG's pictures of the guys rehearsing that got me into that sort of mood of "okay I'm getting a laugh out of somebody now how much farther can I take it?"?
I certainly didn't mean any harm to Curt or Roland. Maybe my mom is right when she hears me laughing and she tells me that I'm having "too much fun." It's just one of those times when something amuses me and I really feel like I have to keep going on and on like the Energizer Bunny and the more I think about it the funnier I think it is.
So yeah I think I'm going to be a little more careful about what I say on here because I want people to like me but I certainly don't want people to start getting upset with me because I was too mouthy.

Don't want you to think I was picking on you, Celeste, I was really hoping to make a general post that wasn't directed at one person in particular. I said all I wanted to on the matter in that first post, I really don't see people being malicious or whatever with what was being said, just that maybe people were getting carried away with the comments and that there were some (unintended?) consequences for that in the past. I just posted again to try and clarify some things for TFFforever who apparently saw it as a free speech issue, when it wasn't. Not looking to make the situation into something it isn't. It was just about having consideration for Curt as it's his site, and any other band members who can see this stuff as easily as we can. That's all. I'm not looking to be the site den-mother, and I'm certainly not a prude by any means, hell, one look at the artwork I do would prove that : )
I'm all in favor of talking about whatever people want here, including politics and religion (ZING!) but like you said just now, as long as it's done in a way that doesn't upset people. It was bordering on that before, so yeah. I'm all for having people talk about what attracts the guys to them, it was just getting a little crass there at the end. The concerts are days away, people are excited, it's understandable. Hopefully, everyone can move on and look forward to the shows, which I can't go to since my brother had to pick August to get married, and *poof* went all my vacation time : )
OK - I'll briefly comment on the current thread. Whilst Roland and I may feel immensely grateful that people still find us attractive in our middle age, it wears thin after a while. I'd like to think that we're adults here and have more important things to talk about. So do me a big favor and reserve those thoughts and feelings for your dreams and let us continue to make music. I for one am not here to get laid - I'm too old :)

Nobody said that this place shouldn't be "classy" and I didn't mean to be so offensive in saying what I said but we shouldn't turn the anatomy talk into something that it's not. At least the body talk hasn't deteriorated to the point where someone has to intervene.
I don't think that there's really anything wrong with dreaming about them nor is there anything wrong with talking about what attracts to these guys.
I think that as long as we talk about it in a way that doesn't get Curt all upset then it's okay to talk about whatever is on our minds and let me just say that I'm a stickler for talking about whatever is on my mind.

Zoe Keating is awesome. She's done work with Amanda Palmer, who is also brilliant. Who's done a book with Neil Gaiman called "Who killed Amanda Palmer?" which I really need to order soon. Don't think she's a part of "6 degrees of Tears for Fears", but Vienna Teng is another amazing singer/songwriter... just got into her music in the past couple of months. Really great stuff.
I can't say I wasn't waiting for a "We can talk about their asses if we wanna" comment, see the debate a few pages back, it really is awesome that this has to come up time and time again. We LIKE talking about politics and religion because it's interesting, and even moreso when Curt gets a moment to join in the discussion. I've yet to see that happen when the topic of discussion concerns various parts of his anatomy.
And what does FREEDOM OF SPEECH (did I quote that correctly... lemme check. ... yup. CAPS and everything) have to do with anything here? If you actually read my post, I was talking about showing some respect to the guys who can read when you're making your cringeworthy comments.
There's a million other places online you can go to comment aplenty about the guys' body parts. All I was asking (with several others in agreement, from the looks of things) was to try and at least keep this place a little classy.
Sheesh.
I wouldn't worry about Mrs Smith everyone. Curt says that she's a very secure person and I believe him when he says that. But I will try to calm my hormones and stop with the smutty comments.
BTW for anyone who wants to know I'm a Liberal backer, I'm pro-choice, and I'm not a very religious because I don't like having it shoved in my face.

Err...we're all here for the very same reason people....we love their music! Why would we want to talk about politics or religion instead of Tears for Fears? FREEDOM of SPEECH, if the comments make you cringe...DON'T READ them or have them deleted, that's all there is to it. I'll see y'all in Vegas!
And now for something completely different. :) Have you all checked out Michael Wainwright's music yet? It's good stuff! I am looking forward to seeing him along with TFF. One of the many reasons I so love Curt's and TFF's music is, it's introduced me to yet more great music! Like the utterly amazing So and Zoe Keating. For all you Zoe fans, if you haven't already heard the Radiolab show about her music, it is a treat.
I can honestly say that my mother would be none too pleased with the "asses" comments. Although I'm a little younger than most of the fans here, only 32, I will try to control my raging hormones. I don't know if I can? They look fantastic. :) I can't help but notice how fantastic they look.
They could come out on stage in Chiquitta bananna costumes and they still would look good. ;)
Awwe but we do have such spoil sports here. It's no biggie. Oh s--t I'm blushing now. I do know and respect that they're married but sometimes I just can't help myself. ;)

Honestly, Curt, Roland, Nick, Doug, Charlton, and Michael could come out onstage wearing Michelin Man or Pillsbury Doughboy costumes...and as long as they played their songs...I would be happy.
Asses...Shmasses.
:)
"Besides, their asses and various body parts belong to them and to the women they married and love."
Hahaha...great line Carolyn! *giggle*
I love the music first and foremost. Beautiful melodies, haunting lyrics, powerful statements, pure musical genius. And I get to witness this in less than 2 weeks. A million thanks.
And I am also a liberal, pro-choice, pro-death penalty, and am reform Jewish....just for s**ts and giggles :)
I have to agree with what Carolyn and Leanne said. That Desperate Housewives comment was too funny. Love the music, the emotion put into it and the happiness we get from it.
I can't wait to see my favorite band, hear great music and have the time of my life.
Kisses Everyone
Lara :)
