The only magic ingredient missing from the night was an ill-fitting capacity crowd that at times seemed more interested in tossing around beach balls, chatting incessantly and making beer runs than listening to anything but the band's best-known hits.

Just got home from the show and what can I say...another great performance. The boys had to go on right at 8:00 pm due to the ridiculous 9:30 curfew imposed by the Pac Ampitheater so sadly, no opening peformance from MW. Same setlist with Billie Jean once again replacing Ladybird. Very good crowd as well. Nice touch on Shout as all of the bands children that were in attendance came out and huddled around a single mic to sing the songs the chorus.

Thanks to Curt, Roland and gang for another stellar peformance. Come back soon, 2 years between shows is too long...

Listening to the band soundcheck "seven of sundays" as we speak. Saw Nick and family arrive at the venue and was good and didn't bother them. Looking forward to a great show tonight.

"William!" (as shouted by Roland in the "I Believe" video) :p

I'm sure if William Gregory isn't working on anything for Goldfrapp he could jet over here and reprise his role with the band ; )

Working Hour is a great tune. Keys could never match the timbre (sound color) of a Natural Saxophone. I'm sure it won't be a problem for TFF to find one they needed it. But they do play the first gig tomorrow already. If they were to play Working hour I'm sure they already have the Sax part all figured out by now. :D Yup be nice to hear this tune live!

I also wondered if he could still handle it vocally. The live shows I have copies of as well as what I remember from the SFTBC & SOL tours were amazing vocally...and that was after performing the track night after night. I wouldn't bet on them playing it but I think even they would be surprised by what a great reception it would get. Truly their best song IMO and one of my top 5 favorite songs ever by any band.

We just need a saxophonist for Working Hour....hhmmmmm
Maybe they could just use a keyboard instead?!
It would be a big job for Roland, vocally.

My wish setlist for upcoming tour.

Since someone already added their setlists requests, I'll add mine as well by picking a few tracks from each album:

Hurting: The Hurting, Pale Shelter, Mad World, Memories Fade
SFTBC: Shout, Mother's Talk, The Working Hour (my all time favorite TFF track), Everbody...
SOL: Sowing the Seeds, Woman In Chains
ELAHE: Killing with Kindness (or Who Killed Tangerine?), The Quiet Ones, Secret World, Closest Thing to Heaven
Others: Elemental, Goodnight Song, Break it Down, Raoul, God's Mistake, Greatest Divide, Aeroplane

The biggest complaint I heard from friends & fans that saw the last tour (not me, I loved the show) was too many tracks from ELAHE. I get that there was a need to promote the new release and love the tracks as I love the album BUT, I'm hoping the upcoming shows can be a little more wide ranging with a few surprises ala Working Hour and Memories Fade.

Needless to say, whatever is played will make me a happy camper...just wish we could see you guys perform more often.

Hello Curt

Can't wait to see you with TFF at the OC Fair. If I may, here are some songs I would love you guys to perform at the concert other than the big hits and I'm sure the other fans would enjoy them as well:

Famous Last Words
Break It Down Again
Advice For The Young At Heart
Change
Mother's Talk
Badman's Song
Woman In Chains (if ever possible)

I hope you take these songs into consideration in case you had not already. Thank you.

I changed plans, going to the Vegas gig instead! Hehehe!

Well Donna, for me it isn't the money. It's the principle and the fact that my financial institution doesn't leave me with enough money to live on. They charge $5/month just to let my money sit around in their bank doing absolutely NOTHING!! There's something here that doesn't quite add up. That's why I'm so angry.

Celeste, you and I will just have to wait for next year! =)
Everything happens for a reason, I guess. So they say....
I'm hoping Curt or Roland blogs for us.
I know our fellow TFF'ers will share...
Donna =)

Unfortunately people I won't be able to make it out west due to a money crunch. My damned bank took it all out of my account in bank service charges for my money just sitting around in my bank account doing nothing and I'm REALLY pissed off about it. :p

Yara, Second section, row U.....that was the best I can do, and I even had the pre-sale tickets on Wednesday...As Carolyn said, any seat is a good seat when it comes to TFF.
Sheila

A question for those bound for Costa Mesa … Does anyone know if the guy who was in Section 2 for the 2007 show (who was “channeling” the song the “Quiet Ones”) will be in attendance this year?

This is how I define a "decent" seat at any TFF concert.....

ANY seat. Especially considering that TFF has been performing since the 80's, and that they don't really NEED to do this concert stuff any more....but they ARE going to do some more concerts in this year of 2009..........for their fans.

So I will take what I can get. My seat could be half a mile away, and I would consider myself lucky. Consider the alternate....no more TFF gigs....ever. So I consider myself danged lucky that the boys are still doing what they do so well, and still willing to share it with us.

Down front yes! Decent? I guess that depends on what you're definition of the word "decent" is. But I did get somewhere in the middle.

Did you have any luck with getting decent seats?

Me too!
