25 August 2008 - 3:00pm The 2008 Democratic National Conventiion will be held from August 25-28. During this meeting, Democrats will formally nominate presumptive candidate Barack Obama to lead their ticket in the November U.S. general election, as well as nominating his running mate.
My 13 year old son has a good friend Max on his soccer team that is being raised by both his mother and her female companion.They are doing an excellant job- he couldn't be doing any better in school or athletics and initially I did have reservations about my son constantly participating on sports teams with Max where he would be exposed to their lifestyle on a regular basis-two women kissing and hugging in his presense.I believe that a young child doesn't have the power to choose what parenting situation they are brought up in and being gay is a decision only a mature adult can make for themselves---not a child's decision and even Max has dealt with alot of uncalled for abuse from most of the other players and their families on his team and we live in the greater LA area so I can only imagine in most other parts of the country how their living situation would be received.I know that gay couples can do a wonderful job but our society can be extremely harsh even in 2008 on the children in most of the USA and therefore I can't say what decision I would support if I were president--it would be a tough call to make for me as a parent.
