Your turn to put words in my mouth...
Having reviewed your dozens of your suggestions for cover songs (which, may I say, certainly ranged from the sublime to the absurd!), I've chosen five I'd consider taking on. So I invite you to make your way to the Fans page and vote in the lastest poll. Please rank each song from your 1st to 5th choice, as it will be helpful to me to know the consensus on the order of preference. Whatever the result, thanks go out to all of you who participated! On a side note - please don't be shocked if it doesn't happen at the first show as time is a little tight for rehearsing right now.
I hope by now that those of you who can attend have booked your seats for my February residency at The Cactus Lounge at The Standard Hollywood. It begins next Wednesday February 4th and will continue on each Wednesday evening though the month. If you haven't already reserved your seats, you can do so by calling The Standard at (323) 650-9090 x2921. As those of you who were there in October know, the available tables book up quickly. Even if they tell you all the tables are booked, come on down anyway. There's lots of space on the deck just outside the Lounge, and even the occasional no-show inside whose seat you can fill.
Whether you can be there or not, please help spread the word by re-posting my promotional graphic - just right-click on it below to save it to your computer - on your own website, blog or Facebook/MySpace page.
Bella is doing great and growing quickly, I'll continue with the photo updates as she turns into a little adult. Man.Utd. are top of the premiership where they belong. Barack Obama is now our president and my kids are doing well at school. All in all a positive start to the New Year.
See you next week,
Papa S.

Allison, I would do that too except this year our governing powers are making getting a Canadian passport such a hassle that it wouldn't even be worth it to me to get one. If they were touring a little closer to home, say in Toronto, then I would consider going there. But to fly out to the other side of another country? I don't know? I just can't see myself doing that to be perfectly honest. Because, like Roland, I'm just not a very good flier. I've never flown out anywhere and truth be told I really don't want to. :) It's nothing against Americans but I'd rather not be that far away from home if I can help it.

Asked Curt about it at the Standards Weds. night gig. I know he did not want to get into too much details but if his crew works something out yeah I think it is for real. I'm sure Curt will give us the heads up as summer gets closer!! Yup Yup Yup!!!
I'm pretty Optimistic that a Summer 09 TFF tour would be a reality! Keep your fingers crossed ladies. Thanks to Retro Rewind interviews. We're counting on it Curt! Hope Roland doesn't change his mind about spending time this up coming summer here in the US!
This is what KMK sent me....
Unfortunately, the TFF forum is down due to xsorbit server problems - all their forums are down (they say on their front page that they have 3 million customers, so having their servers down for this long doesn't bode well). This happened last month for 5-6 days as well. I don't know when they will have it fixed as their online support is also down so I can't get any online support or information, and when I call their office, all I get is a 'mailbox is full' auto message and no one answers. I don't know if they were hit by a virus that knocked out their servers and they're working on getting them back online like last time or if they have gone bust due to the economy. All I can do is wait and see...

Dreaming with you all about a TFF concert this summer! Vegas would be great and a cheap flight. I will be driving through LA Calif in June up to Northern Calif. so I'll take CA again too!! Anywhere I can drive to with my family would be amazing. Wish all you East Coasters could caravan over to the West Coast if it happens!! Ahhhh... sounds like a great time Papa S if you and Roland could make it happen...pleeeease =) Central Park SummerStage is a nice but mostly SRO venue too. Not too big, not too small.

I agree with Carolyn, that the show at the Mandalay Bay outdoor venue, was a smaller, and more personal crowd. What was really cool about the Mandalay show, besides seeing TFF, was the dinner before the show with several of TFF fans from KMK's board (also had the pleasure to met KMK). TFF fans are really neat people!

Timelessgirl,
The TFF show I saw a few years ago in Vegas was so not "Las Vegas". It was at the Mandalay Bay outdoor venue, yep...a smaller, more personal crowd. During the concert I didn't feel like I was in Vegas at all. But I know what you mean about that whole Wayne Newton thing. If I hadn't experienced seeing TFF in Vegas before, I would have thought the same thing. If TFF ever plays at Mandalay Bay again and you get a chance to go, I totally recommend it. It will change your views on Vegas shows. :)
Carolyn
I hope so. As long as they don't forget about the Great White North then I don't care. So I'm going to keep my fingers X'ed. :)

Alissa - don't wreck it!!! ;) I still have to work on it - I had a meeting tonight with my academic advisor to figure out what class/es I need to take for the mini-session in March (that won't be awkward at all - me in college classes with a bunch of 20 something undergrads...what am I thinking!) But planning on getting it done this weekend. So Curt, it'll be coming soon :)

Carolyn - I mean no disrespect to Wayne Newton it's just that I don't put Curt and Roland in the same "league" ...not even the same sport. And when I think of Vegas (actually the last time I was there I was treated to a show - Nudes on Ice! Yuk!) this is what gets conjured up in my mind...Wayne Newton and nudes skating on a little ice rink. No, Wayne Newton was NOT one of the nude skaters!!! I guess, though, Vegas would be pretty cool. Was the show you saw ( and I obviously * kicking myself* missed) a smaller more personal crowd?
Actually, he had mentioned the slight possibility of he and Roland doing a few shows this summer while Roland is here... I'm guessing... hmm... tough call... maybe... LA??
Or maybe, well, it's a bit FAR, but... Vegas?
I think a TFF show somewhere is more likely than a Curt Smith show on the East Coast...
Humpf.
Oh I do too Katy. I know how much it means to Curt to be around for his girls but his adoring public needs him too. :) Maybe not as much as his girls do but come on already! There's more than enough Papa S love to go around.
