very quickly...

.. I interrupt the political conversation with a few reminders about upcoming show dates and other items of possible interest (although I don't know what could be more riveting than the upcoming U.S. General Election, at least for me).

First: My residency at The Standard Hollywood's Cactus Lounge draws to a close next Tuesday night, October 28. Even if you don't have a seat reserved, come on down. There's plenty of room poolside, and the sight and sound are just fine from there, as other KOOKs will attest. In any case, it's best to arrive by 7pm or so. My first set is at 8pm, the second set around 9pm. It's been fun so far, I've added new songs to the repertoire each week, and we've posted photos to document the festivities here: http://www.curtsmithofficial.com/photos/live-at-the-cactus-lounge

Second: After The Standard you'll have one last time to catch me in solo concert before the end of the year, which is at the JDRF Walk To Cure Diabetes on November 1st at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles. Walk registration opens at 8am, the Walk is at 10am, and I'll be doing a 20-30 minute set beginning sometime around 10.45 or 11am, once the Walk is over.

Third: I haven't mentioned this in a while, but I often get asked how fans can help promote Halfway, pleased. Besides the usual (blog about it, ask your local pop music critic to review it, etc.), one of the easiest and best things you can do is to add your review of it on Amazon, iTunes and/or CD Baby. Of course I'm grateful to those of you who have already done that, but come on, there are only 11 reviews on the Amazon page, only 7 on iTunes, and I know for a fact that more than 11 of you have bought the record ;). Just go to the home page on my site, click the "Buy CD from..." links, and they take you to the pages where you can post your review(s).

Fourth: I've been answering the questions you submit as time permits. For those of you who haven't checked in a while, the most recently-answered questions are on the Fans page here: www.curtsmithofficial.com/fans. You can also click on a category on that page (top of the middle column) to see all the questions that have already been Asked and Answered.

Fifth: I thought I might record a holiday song for your listening pleasure. I've listed some choices as the latest poll on the Fans page (www.curtsmithofficial.com/fans). Drop by and cast your vote!

Now, back to your regularly scheduled political rhetoric...

Hey Curt, the Lips will be greeting 2009 with another concert!

Fancy New Year's in OKC? :]

Ani

Curt...thanks again for the final show at the Cactus Lounge. Your performance was so worth the trip. And thank you for taking time to meet those of us who came to enjoy that night. Very kind after all these years (wow.. 28 years) of me being a fan of your music!

Thank you Curt for taking time out to sign my pictures and Mr. Crab for Katy! Once again you total amazed me with your performance. Thank you for singing Snow Hill !!!!!

Good luck on Saturday.......

Sheila

Thanks for the updates. Now if I only lived on the opposite coast... still hoping for something closer to Baltimore...

And the special version of Halfway Pleased, any word on that??? And I added a review on i-tunes. Had two (for the import and us versions) on amazon. Don't know why I didn't think about i-tunes...oh well, I'll chalk it up to a blonde moment ;)

Still bowing out of politics for now. I'll be back, never fear, just can't stomach it right now (anywhere, not just here) - too much rhetoric that has nothing to do with issues!

Dear Curt,
I was hoping to attend your show tonight, but I can't seem to be in 5 places at once. I wish we had human teleporters at the present time ( due to the issues with the super collider who knows how long in the future that may occur ;).
Enjoy your show!

Love,
The aardvark

Dear Carolyn,
Thanks for making me laugh! Your comment about the label of "rock stars" is so true, plus I love the last sentence... Thanks for making my day!

The aardvark

Dear Curt, Allison has a great idea for you to sing the Dreidel song. How about adding the song Hanukkah Oh Hannukkah as well. Would love it! egg to the zone!

Can I put a request in for "Snow Hill "on Tuesday night!
Sheila

Damn! I need to move to LA!!!
And I'am quite disappointed " Santa Claus is coming to town" isn't on your list of holiday songs?....

I would assume it will be a download off the site...

Curt, If you record a holiday song, will it be released on cd? xoxoxo

thank you for the reminders! :) recording a holiday song for your fans' listening pleasure is a wonderful idea!:)

Can you record the "Dreidel Song" for your Jewish fans? LOL :-)

Allison :o)

Curt,

You rock. You are totally connected with your fans and you are much more accessible then many other "rock stars" (don't ya hate that label?) are. You continue to amaze me and you continue to validate my love for your music, TFF's music and Roland's music.

I'm honored to be a KOOK.

Oh, and by the way, I hope that you aren't giving up on your contribution to the regularly scheduled political rhetoric..........I know you are busy......but I value your input, especially since you are an American now and this is your first time ever American presidential election. You never forget your first time.........right? I find myself wanting to hear more about your first time.

Ok........that last sentence was bad....sorry.

:) Carolyn
