tweet tweet, tweet tweet, yeah
Puppy training, out-of-town company, nanny-hunting and the Standard gigs haven't left me with much time for blogging, although I was reminded last night that it's been a while and so I thought I'd take a few minutes to put pixels to screen.
Delighted that a number of you KOOKs have begun to follow me on Twitter, hard to believe I have over 700 followers already in just a month's time. As expected, it's been convenient to dash off a quick update or photo from my iPhone several times a day. (In fact, I should probably grab a bunch of my "twitpics" and post them here as well.) If you're not already on Twitter, come and join the party. Just go to http://twitter.com/curtsmith and you'll find me.
Bella continues to grow in leaps and bounds. She's very playful and lovable, and taking to her training well, but also very much still a puppy which can be exhausting at times. Wilder is 7 now, so it's been a while since we've had a little one around the house! You all seem to like the pictures, so I'll keep them coming.
The gigs at The Standard have been going well. We had a special surprise guest last week as Chesney Hawkes happened to be in town and dropped by the show. Chesney, for those of you who don't know, co-wrote "Seven of Sundays" with Charlton, so naturally I asked him to come up and sing the song with me. I guess he had a good time, as he Tweeted last night that he's coming back for tonight's show.
I know some of you have been asking for recordings of the Standard shows, and we're still considering it. The problem, as those of you who have been there know, is that while the room is friendly and intimate, the acoustics aren't what one might call optimal for recording. So we'd need a bit more of a setup than we ordinarily have with us. What I might do in the meantime is put up some of the songs from the Martha Quinn "Radiobu" session we did for her show last summer. I don't suppose I'll hear any objections to that? :)
Last but definitely not least - just to make sure you've read through to the end - we have some on-sale information for the Tears summer tour. As before, you'll need to check with the individual venues or their ticket outlets to confirm this information, but here's what we've been told. I presume all times are PST.

I found some pretty decent seats at the OC but I'm unsure if I'm going to take them. I won't say what section or row in case some toad tries to sneak in ahead of me and takes them.

Mountain Winery is just magical on a summer night...is it not, Eric? Only in California. :-D
Although I have never heard about a 'password' in accordance with that venue, I do know that a certain number of choice seats are 'blocked' for guests that are reserving the "dinner/concert" ticket. The dinner is offered either in the winery or on the adjacent terrace...just steps away from the amphitheatre. And, of course....why not ? A lovely dinner, a lovely wine list and you go and take your seat.
May '09 be just as magical!
Best to you this summer,
Eva Elena ~
I've been lucky enough to catch TFF the past 2 years at Mtn. Winery in Saratoga. The shows were absolutely fantastic! The seats I got were pretty decent (there are really no bad seats at this venue) but would love to get even better this time around. I've heard about pre-sale passwords, but have no idea how to find out about how to have a chance at better tickets. Would any other fans out there be kind enough to email me with pre-sale info for this show? My email is ericseedman@sbcglobal.net.

I think ticket brokers spoil things more than scalpers do. Did you hear about the shit that ticket brokers tried to pull on Bruce Springsteen?

Your very welcome everyone!! I'm going to see if my best friend will want to go with me, I'm unsure she would go that far for Tears For Fears, and if she doesn't want to go then I'll drag her out of her house kicking and screaming. ;)
EDIT The Pacific Amphritheater just posted ticket onsale dates for this Saturday and it's looks like everything is a go except for the prices. ;)

Yes..thank you Celeste! I'm trying to see if my bestest friend Jill will come down from Grand Junction CO. It's a long drive for her but I know she's dying to be there! Cross your fingers that she can make it.
BTW...There is a slight chance I can attend the last Cactus Lounge show. When I called for a seat reservation there were no more seats available =( I'm a 6 hour drive to Hollywood so I'm not sure if I should try and make it or not. Eileen and Sheila what do you think??
Not to beat a dead horse or anything (which is just plain cruel), I too booked the whole GVR TFF Package and am pretty pleased. My brother is coming with me and even my parents booked a room and show tickets, it's a big damn family affair. Holy crap am I stoked!
I had the same problem when trying to change my reservation (and Kim's too - I soooooo can't wait for our girls weekend with TFF!) and had to do the same. Persevere and you'll get it! Woo Hoo is right!!!
Oh, and thank Celeste for finding the package deal - I just did the phone work :)

Wooohooo!! Just booked my hotel reservation/TFF tix package at the Henderson GV resort! I can't wait. The online reservation wasn't working so I had to go through the front desk rather than the reservations number for it to get completed. Just letting you all know =)
Thanks Suzanne for letting us all know about the package deal!
WHEN r u coming back to good old england hay iv been waiting for years for you to come back to bath or bristol born and bread baby 100% lol. would be great too see you both back in our home town come on!!!!!
Well, let's see? I still have to figure out the money I owe my mother for doing my christmas shopping last year, Normally I would do it myself but then the winter up here has been extrordinarily unkind to me, then I get GST cheques from that @$$hole, pardon me for the swears, that we have in power up here, and they don't pay out very much, and then there's my left over Christmas money plus the money that I have in bank.
So there's no need to worry Jazzy because come hell or high water I'll be there for at least one TFF show. I hope.

Well Celeste, it is enough to at least enjoy what Uncle Sam has taken away from me! Unless something really outrageous comes up that I have to work throughout the summer. That's why I love my job I get summers off!!! Garage sale Celeste!
Thank you so much Suzanne for the info. The package sounds like a great idea, and that it is GA. But I will probably be keeping my original reservations becuase we're getting there on the 16th, makin' a little vay-cay out of it :) (Then off to Diego!)
Blowing your tax money Jazzy? I'd say that's a pretty sound investment. I still have to figure out how much money I have and how I'm going to get to the shows that I want to go to.

I'm on the phone with them now to find out what the difference is...
EDIT: According to GVR, it's just another term for General Admission. And Allison, you can get the package. I booked already, but was told to book that package, then call back and cancel the extra night on the original reservation. They told me to just be sure to request they keep us in the same room. Calling back shortly...

Oh my goodness, Celeste! There's a TFF package-> haha! That's pretty dope. What are 2 Level 3 tickets? Are those good seats? I thought this was General admission? Level 3 doesn't sound that good, lol. Maybe Level 1! But, I prob won't get this package cuz I'm staying at the Ranch more than one night :)
