The Mystery of the Camouflage Bandaid...
...is that obviously the camouflage didn't work. Why it was there is of course a different question. It involved a birthday surprise party for Frances, some very thick long-stemmed sunflowers, a short vase and a carving knife. Luckily the carving knife wasn't that sharp as I feel my bass playing days may have been over. The party was a big success though and I was decidedly more careful when carving the ribs later.
Personally I thought the Ferguson show was quite successful, a little rough at the start as I got used to the sound change from no audience (during sound check) to audience, but from about halfway through the first verse I thought it was a good performance. For those who asked, that was indeed Wendy Page providing backing vocals, and it was she who sang on the acoustic version of "Seven of Sundays" on the album. The sound mix could have certainly been improved upon, but you get what you get on TV (and you try not to get upset).
F everybody's I - I'm off on holiday in a few days, so don't be surprised if I disappear for a couple of weeks. This newfangled internet thing has not caught on so much in deepest darkest Wales or rural Tuscany but I'll do my best, and please do chat here amongst yourselves in the meantime (as if I could stop you). I leave on Thursday and return on August 18th with brief stops in London, Bath, Wales and Tuscany as per usual. I'll be taking a few snaps for you to enjoy upon my return.
The Kindle is going to get it's first major workout and it's fantastic not to have to be packing a whole bunch of books.
I'm still working on the HP Delxue Set set which I hope will be done and ready for release in the fall, along with some new products (posters, signed photos, and by popular demand, a 2009 calendar). And be on the lookout for the launch of the long-delayed Fans section of this site, which may even happen while I'm away. I know you'll find it worth the wait.
I have three specific thoughts from today to share (a little abstract I know):
1) Best headline of the week: Step Brothers: Better Than Citizen Kane? You Bet Your Ball Sack!
2) I love the color of my kid's laundry.
3) Whilst watching the Sunday morning news shows - see links below - I was wondering how anyone could vote for John McCain (just my opinion of course).
I feel a further blog about "family values" coming on.
Happy (summer) holidays,
Papa S.

Curt, Thanks for the update but I got a little perterbed by your McCain comment. I am voting for him in November and while I believe he may not win I can say the same thing about voting for Obama. But I won't as this is your blog I just wish the politics would not rear it's evil head. As always I love your music and respect the hell out of and am proud to call my self one of Tears For Fears biggest fans. We just do not agree politcally. Have fun on vacation.
If you left on vacation a few days early, and stopped in Baltimore, Kim and I would be happy to entertain you and the rest of the Smith family - she's going to be visiting me here the 15th through the 17th. Just a thought ;)

P.S. - and I promise no politics talk - Kim would kill me anyway!!!
Thanks for the update. We'll miss you, but have a great vacation. Are you sure you couldn't sneak a day or so in Baltimore?
(and now a word from your pampered chef...) - your knife was probably too dull??? Dull knives are much more dangerous than sharp ones. I know it makes no sense upon reading it, but you have to press so much harder with a dull blade and it causes more damage by the force you use, instead of by the sharpness of the blade. Please, be careful for goodness sake!
Having a chuckle with how everyone (save me, of course) has jumped on the "how could anyone vote for..." statement. I, of course, see the opposing side - how could anyone vote for a man who refused to greet the troops he went overseas to "see". The word from many military families verifies how he completely blew them off, no greeting, no handshakes, no respect (not just internet rumor). And Obama's doing some "no really, I'm a moderate" shape shifting of his own. He's not moderate, at all. He's the most liberal senator in the senate. Do I like that my choice is McCain? No, I certainly do not (my choice would have been Fred Thompson), but the alternative gives me hives. But again, I know I'm very much in the minority here! Ok, nuff said on that front... but I am looking forward to your family values thoughts. Wonder if they will really be that much different from my own at their core...
Can't wait to get the Deluxe version. A calendar too!?!?!?!?! Wow, it will be a banner year ;) No really, it will!

Hey Curt, Melissa (LIssa and Bill from MySpace) here! We had to DVR your performance on Ferguson. After a day we got a chance to see it! You did a splended job. Ferguson started scarring me at the beginning trying to sing 'Shout'.. especially when he got to your high part of the song.."..let it all ouuuuuuut"! WHOA!! NO ONE can sing the high notes as well as you! I saw you laughing at that by the time they cut over to you... what was your take on the "howling"? LOL... Anyways, I always enjoy watching you perform. Would you mind coming to Houston so that I'd have a chance to see you live? Also I am SO looking forward to the Deluxe HP set.. I was getting worried that maybe I had missed it?? Have fun on your trip! Vacations are always fun. YES, we want to see your pics when you return. We will miss you. Oh, and yeah, your "F everybody's I" was great! I didn't catch that it was "FYI" until way later.. I thought someone or something upset you and you were telling your opinion, until I actually read the whole thing... LOL!! And yeah, WE DO agree with you on McCain.. WHY would anyone vote him in?!?! I guess if they are happy with Bush, they'd be happy with McCain.. *YUCK*! Love you always, Sweet Curt! Looking forward to your return from holiday! And one last note: if you happen to run into Roland, tell him to come back to MySpace! His fans miss him dearly!!
Curt , I hope you have a wonderful time on your vacation. Please take many pictures, especially of Bath! Also, I am looking forward to the deluxe edition of Halfway,Pleased and all of the other items this fall. Once again, Enjoy! EZEZ
After watching the video of the Ferguson appearance, I have to say it almost sounded like a slightly different performance than what we watched live as an audience member. It sounded exactly perfect in the studio. Have a great vacation with your family Curt!! Oh and regarding John McCain, it wasn't long ago that I was picketing his office in Phoenix..lol. I don't know how anyone could vote for that shape shifter.
