I know it's been a while but...
.......it's my age, I get forgetful at times. Seriously though - I've been running around doing press, gearing up for the end of the school year and the events that entails, and Frances has been away in England so I've been flying solo for a while. She's now back and I'm thankful to say that all is retuning to normal (although I'm not sure normal is an accurate description of my family).
Right now I'm on a flight home from New York after two days of radio and press there, and in the morning I'm off to New Orleans for a friend's birthday celebration. It's all go I tell you.
The big news is of course that Barack Obama is now the presumptive nominee for President. Tuesday was a major celebration, it was just unfortunate that I had to spend the night on a red eye to New York. I was particularly fascinated by the e-mails I received from Europe. It seems no-one believed that the U.S. would nominate an African American; I'm happy to say that they are now viewing the US in a different light. Onwards and upwards as they say (and when I say they I of course mean I).
I've been getting more e-mails (especially from new Kooks) asking if there is anything they can do to help promote HP, so as a little refresher here's the list from an earlier blog:
If you're on a social networking site like MySpace, Facebook, Virb, iLike, Flickr:
- Add my page there as a Friend, if you haven't already. The links to a few of them are conveniently at the top of this page, next to my picture :).
- Add one (or more!) of my songs and videos to your profile
- Add me to your list of favorite artists
- Send a message or bulletin to your Friends letting them know about my album
If you have your own blog or site:
- Add a link to my site (www.curtsmithofficial.com) - the more pages that link to me, the better the search results will be!
- Blog about Halfway, pleased (send me a link if you do)
- Add a picture from my Flickr account to your page
If you post or comment regularly on other blogs, by all means post about Halfway, pleased being available.
Let the music critic for your local paper or favorite website know the album is out. All the songs are streamed on my website, and the album artwork is right there to grab, as are my publicist's contact details, so it's a cinch for them to give a listen and review it.
And last, but not least, you can (and should!) post your own reviews of Halfway, pleased on Amazon, iTunes and/or CD Baby.
I'll write a more detailed blog next week after the LA event on Tuesday, but until then onwards.............you get the picture!
Papa S. is now about to land at LAX.

Yes, and I believe.....with all my heart....that Mr.Obama will be with Ms. Clinton, together, as the team for the presidency of the United States. And that they will win in the election process and that the U.S. will have an African American president and a female vice president. History will be rewritten...minorities will take hope. And that will include the minority of 'womanhood'....the world-over! The world will see the combined efforts of the two peoples blessed of higher-intelligence, wisdom, strength, tenacity, servitude and most sincerely....compassion. And that is which has been missing in the hierarchy of the United States for a very long time. Changes are coming.....thanks be to God.
And 'thank you' Curt for your courage. X
Oh, haaaa haaa! Just caught that Suzanne! Well if I would've known he was coming to town ~ I most probably would have ~ HEE !!! Okay, maybe not exactly “stalked“. Maybe more like waiting at the airport ... following him and his friends to the car, then taking a cab to follow them (I can't stand driving in NOLA, I love walking though!). Then I would wait for them to come outside their abode to enjoy the sites, follow them around a little more. You know, just stuff like that. That's not really stalking now is it? BAAH HA!! Of course it is, but I wouldn’t do that though ;). I just don’t have it in me. I live not far from Britneyville and report from there all the time. I've done only one interview, and that was for RAW Television from the UK. They were classy, NOT like tabloid people who see me on a by: line. I've never stalked Spears, and wouldn't stalk Papa C, either. That’s a promise :))). (Still not over Diana because of paparazzi stalking, but I digress …)
But I’ll tell you what I WILL do!!! I will pre-purchase tickets for me and my husband, and go see Papa C for a LIVE show. We’ll take the whole weekend off and stay in town for that matter, whaddya say Papa C? Come for a show in the Big Easy? My husband and I could certainly use a little home away from home vacation. Seeing you live sounds PERFECT. Much Love!
~Alissa
PS Suzanne ~ Papa C is probably enjoying himself some gumbo and crabs this weekend, so get your crab recipes ready for his next trip up north, I’m anxious to see whose food he likes best too!
You're going to LOVE New Orleans. The weather should be spectacular this weekend, albeit on the humid side. Go to the Vieux Carre and the heart in Jackson Square. Go get you some beignet's from Cafe du Monde, and wear a baseball cap if you can? People WILL recognize you, and I know you value your privacy so much. But aahh, let them recognize you, it's all good :)).
And since you’re in the neighborhood, can you and your birthday friend please PLEASE visit Hard Rock Cafe, or maybe House of Blues? They are some of the BEST venues for performing live! Maybe you guys can set something up? PLEASE? The thrill of seeing you and your music live again!
Okay, I'm off to enjoy some gorgeous weather of my own. Be well Papa C! Hey now, don't you have a birthday coming up soon, too? E to the Z, much love to you and your family!
~Alissa
Is there such thing as a normal family? Seriously... ;)
Thanks for the update! You've been all over the place, haven't you? Alissa is probably staking out the New Orleans airport now - hehehe!
Onto politics, which, for the record, I am absolutely sick of by this point! But, maybe we can have some really good discussions now (like we didn't before, right?) I haven't made Kim cringe lately...
As I've been listening to the news over the last few days, I've been picturing you with that big smile on your face. At least one of us is happy about their candidate... just sayin!
Ok, back to work for me, then off for the weekend! Onwards and upwards!

Eva Elena ~ nice post! I've thought the same these past few months ... we've got a former first-lady NY Senator running for the white house, a first time black senator from Illinois, and a 5 year POW veteran, all wanting the same seat. (Or were wanting, lest Hillary). In any event, THAT is the America I've always known, and watching the elections makes me feel like we're finally getting out of this 'funk" we've been in, and getting back to the things that made America the country it is in less than 300 years or so. It's about time if I do say so myself.
Luv the weather in NOLA Papa C? What a gorgeous weekend ~ your friends birthday has fallen on the most spectacular weather imaginable :).
