Happy Holidays
After spending a few days attempting to write a Christmas song, Charlton and I discovered that it's not easy as everything we came up with sounded trite and just "not me". Maybe we'll be inspired at some point in the future but for now I'll offer a free download of "Amazing Grace" as my gift for the holidays (click "home" above to find it). Recorded over the course of a couple of days at Shabby Road and featuring the wonderful Gaby Moreno on vocals (http://www.myspace.com/gabymoreno). A special thanks to Gaby as she snuck out a couple of hours before getting married and flying off to Guatemala for her honeymoon. Why "Amazing Grace"? I had it stuck in my head as Diva has been singing it at home for some reason and it seemed like a nice song to record for the holidays. Who knows? After "Silent Night" and "Amazing Grace" maybe there's a holiday EP or album in the works for next year.
Until then, here's wishing everyone a safe and wonderful holiday period, however you celebrate it.

I've been soooo busy with family and friends that have stayed with us for the holidays, that I haven't visited your site for a few weeks. Thanks so much for sharing Amazing Grace with all of us.

Happy holidays to all out there! Wish you to have a memorable season of winter this month. Prepare early for the holiday’s bonding with your family, worth being together in the table during your dinner. Worth getting some payday loans for this. Planning ahead of the New Years Eve is good. Every member of your loved-one will be better off, happiness is given obvious.
Merry Christmas, Curt, to you and your family. Amazing Grace is my mother's favorite hymn. She and I love to sing it too :)
Off to 9:30 mass! Midnight is too late for Meghan (Santa has to come sometime, Mom!) still holding on at 11!
Hope for the hopeless, prayer, faith without anger. We can change the world...

Have a good holiday Curt. :)
Curt,
You mentioned in one of your performances at the Cactus Lounge that you typically only write songs when you are hurt or upset. Since Christmas is such a positive thing it is natural that you would have trouble finding inspiration to write Christmas music that sounds like "you".
Perhaps you could do a few originals that are a bit darker themed Christmas songs and then do covers for the rest of the album. Chris Isaak has a great Christmas album that he did in this fashion. I recommend it if you don't have it already. Obviously your musical style is different but it would be fantastic if you followed a similar formula. I can envision you and Charlton incorporating some atmospheric synths and the reverse guitar tracks he utilizes on occasion.
I do hope to hear a Christmas album from you next year and it would be great to see some gigs accompanying it.
I hope you and your family have a fantastic Christmas!
Cheers,
Rob Rohm
Curt,
Thanks to you, Charlton, and Gaby for this beautiful version of "Amazing Grace". This was one of my Dad's favorite songs before he died, and I grew up hearing him sing it while he strummed his guitar.
I know he would really have loved your version.
Thanks for bringing back some nice memories.

Wonderful song Papa S., I know what you mean by getting something stuck in your head. If you are going to get a song stuck in your head then "Amazing Grace" is certainly a great one. Now, your song is in my head... I don't mind, you did a great job :0)
I have loved this song since I was a kid, Diva knows good stuff. Congrats to Gaby, have a blessed time. Thank you so much Papa S. for all that you bring to music and our lives. Have a great Christmas and time with family.
