And a good time...

...was had by all - even me (and I don't normally like those kind of things).

I'm talking about the release party, of course. It was an exercise in the unknown and I think that's what made it fun. I don't believe I've ever performed completely acoustically before - that is, without the aid of a microphone of any kind. Note to self: maybe I should do so more often. It turns out that if you have no monitors or sound to worry about, you're left to concentrate on the emotional content. Who knew?

It was fun to hang out with the KOOKs who made it, and I concur with their comments that it felt like a small family gathering - intimate, relaxed and dare I say a little amusing at times.

The next day was D & W's "step-up" celebration and the end of the school year. During the event every class gets up on stage to sing a song with their own adapted lyrics (usually with snide but loving comments about their teachers), and then when finished they move into the seats vacated by the grade above. Diva and Wilder became 3rd and 1st graders. I was of course verklempt.

In the near future I'll get to some of the questions that have been asked, and my web team are hard at work on a widget for the Fans page that will let you submit questions directly in a way that makes it easy for me to answer them right here on my website. But for now I'm just going to share some upcoming event news, in chronological order:

  • On June 26, I'll be a guest speaker (no performance!) at the Creative Commons Salon at the Found Gallery in the Silverlake section of Los Angeles. I'm a keen supporter of Creative Commons; please come on out to hear more about it. I'll have CDs for sale there and will be happy to sign them. Click here for more info.
  • On July 23, I'm taping a guest musical appearance on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson. We don't know yet whether it will air that same evening, but you can click here to apply now to be an audience member for the taping (must be age 17 or over).
  • In November and December - and you KOOKs who live in Europe may be especially happy to hear this - Tears for Fears will be performing a series of dates with the German leg of Night of the Proms, from November 28 to December 21. Visit the Night of the Proms site for more information or click here to order tickets.

Until soon...

Woohoo!! Germany!! there's so many venues?!!! where's my German phrase book?!!
I'll bring you some more sunflowers!! ha!

Can't wait for the Craig Ferguson show. Got my 2 tix !! Thanks for letting us all know about it Curt!

Thanks for all the kind words from those who came to the show (and even from those who didn't), it's nice to know that people "get it". Unfortunately for those outside of Germany there are no other TFF plans at this point, but I'll be sure to keep you posted if that changes.

Hi Curt,

Advance Happy Birthday, I wish you a more blessed and contented life. Always be yourself coz’ you are so charming, accommodating and down-to-earth, I haven’t seen you nor heard you in person, but the way people describe their feelings and enthusiasm when they see you is so overwhelming, as if I can feel their real happiness with you. You said you’ll gonna have series of concerts in Germany. Can you please, please consider having a concert here in Manila, Philippines. I really would love to see you guys together again and sing all your beautiful songs… I only take please in watching the compilation of your past concerts and MTV’s, and I do listen to your music everyday and never get tired of it. I hope I’ll know it soon and if possible I’ll know it first here so that I could save more for that eventful day. Please visit your fans here, I love to see you in person. Take care always. God Bless

Curt - Your gonna be in Germany! already to book tickets - not missing out on this one! I am soooooo excited!

Curt, are there any plans in the works for TFF to play a few dates in Canada (specifically Toronto)...I'd love to see you and Roland perform live again!

Can't wait for these Europe days, why don't you also consider a full TFF show then ? Just a suggestion :)

I look forward to seeing you perform on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson. That's one of my fav tv shows. :)

Europe Europe Europe

I agree Curt being without a microphone brought out so much emotion from both the crowd and especially Curt's family that it was perfect timing when Curt ended the performance at it's peak with everybody dying for more which is when a great performance should end.Hopefully Curt can let Roland know how wonderful the experience was for all involved and at sometime in the future TFF can perform an acoustic set in a smaller venue raw which I will definitely attend if at all possible.Kent James

Oh to hear Curt completely acoustical... and Curt, we could see the concentration on the emotion in the pictures from the event.

The step up sounded precious! I'm sure Diva and Wilder stole the show! My children's elementary school only does something for 5th grade (a "graduation" of sorts). My daughter, who will be a 5th grader this coming school year is shooting for perfect attendance award - she's never missed a day of school...ever. Keep you posted! My son, well he's off to...{gulp} high school. Yikes!

Ok, so something in Europe...Curt, please, you're going OVER the East Coast again. We want you to STOP on the East Coast, not hop over it (and layovers at the airport don't count)! Ok, so at least wave at us as you fly over? ;)
